Academics
Our belief in the importance of a balanced life guides our overall educational philosophy. A strong academic offering is a critical component of our school's educational model, and is a key component in ensuring that every HNMCS student succeeds at the university level. In order to develop strong and confident young women who are well prepared for university, we have developed a comprehensive approach to education and academics at Holy Name of Mary College School.

First, we offer our girls a rich academic program at all grade levels to stimulate the love of learning and foster academic excellence. We hire well qualified teachers in all subject matter areas with specific subject matter expertise to inspire our students and go beyond the basic curriculum. We challenge our students to develop excellent work habits and achieve academically, and we do everything possible to ensure that a love of learning is developed.

Second, we enrich our curriculum through guest speakers, guest artists, and authors who share their expertise and personal and inspiring perspectives on a range of topics appropriate to the student’s age and level of maturity. Students participate in excursions designed to enhance the academic and the co-curricular programme. These enriched activities build on the standard curriculum and foster a love of exploration and learning.

Finally, our unique chapel and co-curricular programme focuses on spiritual and personal development and helps our students develop leadership skills and confidence. We celebrate the Catholic faith through daily prayer, vibrant liturgies and class retreats. Our co-curricular programme is part of our daily schedule and includes athletics, arts, clubs, and academic support. Together our chapel and co-curricular programme provide the personal and spiritual development opportunities to achieve personal and academic success.

An HNMCS education focuses on balance and a love of learning to ensure sustained academic and personal success.
Co-Curricular Programme
Our co-curricular programme is fully integrated into the educational requirements of the school. Three days a week, students take part in a diverse selection of clubs, arts or athletics. The wide range of life skills developed in these activities, from technical and knowledge-based skills, to the important skills of relationship building and teamwork, enhance each student’s understanding of her own abilities and her responsibilities as a member of the school community and of the broader social community. Students may also choose to select the Academics option during which time they may seek additional help from a teacher or complete homework or assignments.
