Our client is seeking a senior accountant to join their Accounting Team in their Toronto office. To be the ideal candidate, you must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized and have proven capabilities in multi-tasking, problem solving and prioritizing workloads.
In the role of Senior Property Accountant, you will report to the Accounting Supervisor and have the following tasks:
Prepare journal entries and government remittances
Monthly reporting package (including rent roll, aged arrears, bank recs, gst etc)
Setting up new leases
Approving the A/P coding
Year End Budgets
Lease abstracts
Audit working papers
Prepare monthly operating costs and tax recovery estimates
Review and analyze financial statements, recovery ratios and provide variance analysis
Analyze balance sheet accounts and maintain working papers
Prepare final annual operating costs and tax recovery adjustments, including preparing CAM audit statements
Provide information for audit related queries
Provide information to property appraisers on a timely basis
Assist with property tax appeals
Ensure that monthly reporting deadlines are met
Ensure instructions to accounting are completed according to procedure
Assist in completion of annual budget
Prepare bank reconciliations
Assist Accounting Supervisor, Controller and CFO with special projects
Qualifications:
At least 2 years of Property Accounting (ideally in industrial and or retail)
University degree or College diploma
Strong interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to build relationships
Good understanding of accounting practices
Strong computer skills, with a good knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word, peoplesoft or JDE
Assertive self-starter with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision
Strong organization and time management skills
High level of attention to detail
